Schloss Arnfels - Macher Johann
ArnfelsArnfels Castle sits picturesquely on a ridge above the market town of the same name and was first mentioned in a document in 1200.
It was rebuilt in 1424 after a devastating fire and underwent extensive renovation in 1976. Today, only the northern half of the castle remains, which was rebuilt in 1916 and has a different architecture. A striking feature of the castle is the eastern tower, which dates back to 1693 and gives the building a special historical character.
From 1681 to 1912, the castle was owned by the Counts of Schönborn, a well-known aristocratic family. Today, the castle is privately owned and is therefore unfortunately not available for guided tours.
