Steirisches Feuerwehrmuseum Kunst & Kultur Gr. St. Florian
Groß Sankt FlorianIn historical museum architecture, the display collection with modern media provides a look behind the scenes of the Styrian fire department. Absolute highlights are the extensive helmet collection and the vehicle halls with the popular classic cars.
Fire and art come together in an "explosive mixture" throughout the season.
Changing art and cultural exhibitions take visitors on a journey through Styrian culture and the history of foreign cultures. The museum has been awarded the ICOM international museum seal of approval since 2002 and also received the CTIF seal of approval for fire department museums in 2009 Fire & Art - the explosive mix!
Learn and discover everything about the history of the Styrian fire departments at the Styrian Fire Brigade Museum of Art & Culture.
The museum's display collection takes a look behind the scenes: Who are the people in the fire department and what stories can they tell?
The modern presentation enables a lively examination of the technical and social development of the Styrian fire departments, historical fire-fighting equipment and contemporary operational technology show the development of the blue light organization. The horse-drawn fire engines and the much sought-after vintage fire engines round off the exhibition.
For the young museum audience, there are children's stations that explain many interesting topics relating to fire and how to fight it at eye level and invite interaction.
There is also an extensive children's program, from a treasure hunt to a Roman journey and a family rally.
Another highlight is the birthday party in the fire department museum, where the birthday boy or girl can become a firefighter themselves!
A small but fine Roman collection tells the story of Roman settlement in the Grünau district of Groß St. Florian. The silver cup from Grünau, which is considered one of the most outstanding finds from this period in Styria, takes center stage.
