Teichpark Lannach mit Waldlehrpfad - ein Naturerlebnis.

Since 1870, high-quality clay has been mined in the Lannach East area, which was further processed in a brick factory. Today, this brick factory has been shut down and clay mining has ceased. What remains of the former 30 brick ponds are 19 water-filled ponds. They gradually became overgrown with water plants and swamp trees, and interesting animals settled in the water and on the shore zones. A "second hand habitat" developed from former clay pits, largely unaffected by man, which is one of the most noteworthy wetlands in Austria. In the Lannacher Teichpark, the main focus is on preserving and experiencing nature: the southern part with ponds, alder marsh and stork meadow is reserved for nature as a protected landscape. The northern part is an adventure trail for residents, visitors, but especially for school classes in the region. An open-air classroom provides an opportunity to learn about special animal and plant species and their habitats. Some ponds are used by the Ice Shooting Club, the Graz Workers Fishing Club, as fish ponds, boat ponds or simply as recreational ponds. In 1997, under the expert guidance of the head of the Institute for Nature Conservation, Univ.-Doz. Dr. Johannes Gepp, nature trails and an outdoor classroom were created, which made it possible to make a pond park accessible to all, while at the same time preserving nature worthy of special protection. The Lannach Pond Park is accessible all year round. Sufficient parking is available at the end of the ice pond road.
