Concert as part of the Artist in Residence program 2025 of the State of Styria.
What do two Styrian and one Brazilian artist have in common? At first glance, not much. Yet, Markus and Elisabeth Adam share a passion for music, education, and a love for brass band music, just like Chico Santana. Markus is a saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist, composer, and conductor in St. Andrä-Höch. Elisabeth is a clarinetist, saxophonist, and orchestral musician at the Volksoper in Vienna. The multipercussionist Chico teaches at the university in Paraiba and regularly visits Austria, this time as an "Artist in Residence" as part of a cultural program from the province of Styria.
They blend polka with choro, folk song with frevo, and march with samba. For this, they invite many young musicians as well as choirs and ensembles from the region to the Greith House, to make the differences and, above all, the similarities between Brazilian and Styrian culture visible, audible, and experiential for one evening.
