Saint-Tropez in the 1970s – a glamorous mecca for the rich and famous.
Far away from Inspector Boulin's (Christian Clavier) dreary everyday life. His career is stagnating, as his clumsy nature regularly causes chaos. But now he is sent on a special assignment: entrepreneur Tranchant (Benoît Poelvoorde) asks for help after a
car was sabotaged on his estate and threatening letters were sent to his wife. Instead of the best investigator, he gets Boulin – disguised as a butler.
While the elite of France gathers for the summer party, Boulin tries to solve the case with his quirky methods –
causing plenty of confusion and humorous disasters along the way.
