"The Erlkings" ensemble in Fehring
Art song reinterpreted
For almost ten years, the Viennese ensemble "The Erlkings" has been delighting audiences across Europe with a new kind of art song. Their unique combination of instruments, together with creative and skillful arrangements and English translations of the art song repertoire, has earned them regular appearances on many prestigious stages across Europe. These include the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg/Hohenems, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Heinrich Heine House in Paris, the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Vienna Konzerthaus.
Her six studio albums show songs by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Ludwig van Beethoven and Joseph Haydn in a new light, which have been highly praised by the critics. The Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote: "No wonder that classical organizers increasingly see potential here to make the originality of the art song tangible again."
In the 2024/25 season, the ensemble will celebrate the long-awaited premiere of their new arrangement of Schubert's “Winterreise” at the Schubertiade in Hohenems. They will also be the ensemble in residence at the prestigious Oxford International Song Festival in 2025 and perform at the Schumannfest in Düsseldorf for the first time.
