Weinwarte in St. Peter/O.
St. Peter a. OttersbachThe Weinwarte Sankt Peter am Ottersbach was completed at the beginning of 2004. The Perbersdorfberg on the southeast Styrian hill wine route was chosen as the location for this unique building.
Aussichtswarte in the shape of a wine glass
The "Weinwarte" in Sankt Peter am Ottersbach is a 28 meter high wooden construction shaped like a wine glass. The lookout is the starting point for hikes and serves as a symbol for the fine wines that are pressed around Sankt Peter am Ottersbach. From the viewing platform at a height of 25 meters, the climber has a remarkable distant view.
The Windische Bühel and the Steiner Alpe in the Slovenian, the Stradener and the Gleichenberger Kogel, the volcanic cone of the Riegersburg and on nice days the view even reaches as far as the Hungarian lowlands. With the help of the clearly arranged directional panorama boards on the plateau, mountains and prominent points in the distance can be easily named. Of course, every "summit striker" can also sign the guest book of the lookout station as a souvenir.
After the visit, we recommend a visit to the Bergler Schlössl inn run by the Riedl family, which is only about 250 meters away from the lookout point. There is also a parking lot for buses for tour groups. The wine cellar is freely accessible.
