This exciting hike in Ausseerland leads to a mysterious place high above the Tauplitz valley. The Lieglloch, a 15-metre wide and around 10-metre deep cave at the foot of the Bergerwand, was probably used as a shelter, cult site and hunting station back in the Stone Age. Among other things, relics and bones of cave bears have been found there. Today, the site offers a fascinating view of the Grimming.
The trail starts in the center of Tauplitz. From here, marked trail no. 276 leads below the route of the 4-seater chairlift in the direction of the Tauplitzalm. Just below the middle station, the ascending trail no. 15 branches off to the left. This leads directly to the Lieglloch.
A small bench in front of the cave entrance invites you to take a break. Here you have the opportunity to recover from the climb and take in the silence and mysterious atmosphere. The cave stimulates the imagination and gives room for speculation about life in prehistoric times.
The return journey is along the same route back to Tauplitz. The tour is not particularly demanding and is also suitable for families with children.
