From the parking lot, walk downhill to the center of Obersdorf.
At the first signpost turn left and follow the road uphill past beautiful old farms. Passing the last farm, you now climb the steep Achzweg (this was the path used to transport the ore mined at Kampl to the deposit in Obersdorf). Halfway there is the first of a total of twelve interesting GeoTrail information boards.
Afterwards you meet a forest road to the Teltschenalm. After about 20 minutes you leave the forest road and again follow the yellow sign on the left up through a short piece of forest, where you then come back onto a forest road. Shortly before the end of the forest road, turn right at the sign "zur Teltschenmutter". It is said that the Mother of God appeared to the cattle herder Peter Dangl in 1889 at this place where the beautiful altar with the Teltschenmutter stands.
The trail continues up over the alpine pasture, past the mighty ore pile on the right, along through sparse larch forest to the Achzloch. (ore mining cave). Further uphill you come to a fork, here you follow the sign Kampl 30 minutes. Passing bristle grass lawns and sinkholes, you hike to the summit cross with its breathtaking view into the Hinterberger valley and up to the Dachstein glacier.
The path now leads along the mountain ridge, past the "Jesu-Namen" memorial to the Seidenhofalm. Here you leave the forest road to the right and follow the yellow signs Kamplrundweg, cross the alpine pasture and go downhill at the last hut on the eastern side. After the Ochsensprung (narrow passage with information board) continue in the steep spruce forest to the intersection with the forest road, where a bench invites you to rest with a spring water point and information board.
Then cross the forest road straight ahead and take the path towards Obersdorf.
Pass the Kas-Schwarer rock with information board, downhill until you reach a fork in the road. Here a direct path leads back to Obersdorf. However, the correct Kampl circular route leads to the right to the famous Knödl-Alm on the Knoppenberg, which is ideal for a rest.
At the end of the forest, do not cross the fenced-off meadow, but follow the signs to the right. From the Knödl-Alm, the asphalt road leads briefly downhill. At the first turn you will find the sign Kamplrundweg again, go uphill on the slightly ascending path to the farm. Shortly before the farm turn left uphill to the next fork where you turn right and follow the path along the edge of the forest to Obersdorf.
