Streuobstweg St. Stefan ob Stainz

The St. Stefaner Streuobstweg" is a leisurely circular route that leads through forest, meadows and past apple trees. Seven stations invite you to enjoy the shade under the apple trees.

Because cosiness must not be neglected during a hike in Schilcherland. Immediately after the start, follow the path marked S6, S4 past the school center and after a short time you will reach the so-called Puff-Kreuz in Stocka. From there you continue to follow the S4 and after a few leisurely kilometers you will reach the Jäger-Hochstand in Pirkhof. In the district of Pirkhof, the cozy GH Pirkhofs awaits you with delicious delicacies from the region. Hospitality is very important here. You should definitely try the excellent homemade apple strudel, the ideal dessert on this hike. Continue on the S3, past the bean apple meadow in Pirkhofberg. Here it is a good idea to take your time and enjoy the peace and quiet. Meadow orchards like this have become rarer in the region in recent years. That is why an initiative from the municipality, federal state and EU is trying to preserve these old, rather disease-resistant apple varieties that are so typical of Styria. You hike along the S3 to Zirknitz. Here you will find Willi Klug's beekeeping business. Small creatures, especially our bees, also benefit from the apple trees in the meadow orchards. During fruit blossom, bees play an important role in pollinating trees. A proverb says: "Without bees there is no life". In Mitterzirknitz we follow the S6, GS to Puxhof. There we turn left in the direction of Stocka to the Krainerhof. With its snacks and fine pastries, the Buschenschank is just the right thing for a last refreshment before You reach the destination again, the Schilcherland car park. There is a playground waiting for families at the finish or start, a meeting place for young and old, with an apple sales stand to take from the organic farmer Kormann from the region.
