Ski Tour around Gjaidstein
Mountaineers can expect a lot of beautiful scenery and even more downhill runs. 30 kilometers of ski tour, 3,000 meters of descent and the highest mountain in Upper Austria and Styria in one fell swoop.
Starting at the mountain station, on this tour you cross the glacier to the Gjaidalm and from there climb up to the Oberfeld. Between Niederem and Hohem Rumpler you go south-west to the Mitterstein chairlift valley station and back to the Hunerkogel. Attention, there are only a few pole markings, good sense of direction and GPS necessary. Beware of crevasses and sinkholes.
Attention: The lifts on the Dachstein Glacier are no longer in operation. Therefore, all altitude metres have to be mastered under your own power. GPS track has been adapted.
