There are many different ways to wind down your day in our region: For example, over a warm cup of tea or a bowl of homemade soup at one of the nearby mountain huts, at a traditional restaurant in the valley, or back at home in front of a crackling fire.
Yet there are also many opportunities for those who prefer to stay active. These include sledding or sleigh rides after dark as well as ice stock, a traditional Alpine sport. To name but a few of your options.
At night, beneath a clear starry sky, ski touring in Schladming-Dachstein has a special charm all its own. On the Riesneralm as well as on the Hochwurzen and Galsterberg, nighttime ski touring gives you the chance to experience a whole different, more peaceful side of our popular ski mountains. On the Pleschnitzzinken in the Galsterberg ski area and on the Brandalm in Ramsau am Dachstein, monthly full-moon ski tours promise magical moments.
No less spectacular is a night hike through the Talbachklamm. Reachable directly from Schladming, this gorge, with its snow-covered rock faces and bizarre ice formations, is already an astonishing experience by daylight. At night, it radiates a special magic, not least due to the combination of colorful lighting juxtaposed with starlight glistening on snow crystals.
If you still haven’t had your fill of skiing later in the evening, the Hochwurzen is the place to be. A 3 km long night hill remains open until 10 PM, with the piste illuminated by a modern floodlighting system. For endless skiing enjoyment, practically all day, and all night long.
