Since its founding in 1853, the Marktmusikkapelle Irdning has been a musical figurehead of the region – tradition-conscious, youthful, and highly decorated.
The Irdning Market Music Band was founded in 1853 and currently has 70 active members. The average age in the band is 30.5 years, and the musicians wear an Archduke Johann costume. The MMK has its own youth band called the “Irdning Music Mice.” Every year in August, the “Music Mice Week” takes place, where we combine music with play and fun. At the end of this week, a great concluding concert is held. The Irdning Market Music Band has been awarded the Styrian Panther and the Robert Stolz Medal several times by the Province of Styria.
