From the mountain station, follow the wide groomed track, below the top station of the Schladminger lift, down to the Dirndl-Kolk. Then, head uphill, for approximately 100 meters, towards the Dachsteinwarte. From there, the turnoff towards Simonyhütte follows, this is where the descent begins. From the Simonyhütte to the Gjaidalm, the ski run follows the ski and hiking trail #650. Here, you will pass through the transition from high mountains to the high alpine pasture region. The Dachsteinalm (former Schilcherhaus, 1.739 m) on the Gjaidalm is a popular resting place for ski tourers. A short lift (free of charge for tourers) facilitates access to the downhill ski run to Obertraun next to Lake Hallstatt. Via Krippenbrunn, a groomed and snow-covered downhill run goes down to the valley station of the Dachstein cable car in Obertraun.
Variant: as a variation of this tour, you can take the track from Dirndl-Kolk down to the lower rocky outcrop of the Eisstein. From the Eisstein, cross the middle tongue of the Hallstätter Glacier down to the lake called obere (upper) Eissee. There, you will have to climb up to the Simonyhütte for approx. 200 metres. Gentle glacier slopes lead down from the Simonyhütte (2.203 m).
