Der große Jogl 2,5 Etappen: Mönichwald - Fischbach, Mönichwald

The stage of the touring mountain bike route “Der große Jogl” leads from Mönichwald via St. Jakob im Walde, Rettenegg, Ratten and St. Kathrein am Hauenstein to Fischbach.
“Der große Jogl” leads through all eleven municipalities in the Joglland - Waldheimat region. At around 193 kilometers and 5413 meters in altitude, it is also one of the longest continuous bike tours in Styria. The tour leads along forest and meadow paths, forest roads and various road sections to the most beautiful places, most interesting excursion destinations and highest peaks in the region.
 
A special service along the tour “Der große Jogl” is the luggage transport - simply cycle carefree, without any annoying extra luggage. While you are on the road, your luggage will be taken to your next stage destination (by 5 p.m. at the latest).

More information

Waldbach-Mönichwald has been a municipality in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district of Styria in Austria since 2015.
 
By car:
From Graz: via the A2 to the Hartberg exit, then B50 and B54 via Grafendorf Rohrbach; continue via Koglerau and Bruck to Mönichwald
 
From Vienna: via the A2 to the Pinggau exit, then on the B54 towards Hartberg to Rohrbach a. d. Lafnitz; continue via Koglerau and Bruck to Mönichwald
  • We start in Mönichwald
  • We continue in the direction of the Hochwechse lifts
  • We pass the Hotel Schwengerer
  • We ride further and further up to the Hochwechsel
  • We ride via the Rabl-Kreuz-Hütte to the Arzberghütte
  • In St. Jakob im Walde we ride to Rettenegg
  • We follow the country road for a short distance
  • Before we turn into Rettenegg, we continue to Ratten
  • In Ratten we make a detour to the Pretul
  • We stay on the main route and ride to St. Kahtrein am Hauenstein
  • In the mining area, we turn right to the Roseggerhof farm
  • At the Roseggerhof we come to the Alpl, where we turn right
  • At the Schlagbauer crossroads, we head towards Waldtoni-Alm
  • From there a path leads to Fischbach
In summer, the swimming pond and the mini-golf course in Fischbach are well worth a visit.
