This varied running circuit starts at the leisure center in Irdning. You start your loop south of the main road in the direction of Irdning Hauptplatz. Pass the traffic circle and the Billa shopping center, cross the road at the crosswalk and then turn right into one of the small side streets. For orientation: the Irdning kindergarten is on the opposite side of the road.
Follow the signs through a quiet residential area in the direction of the Falkenburg Capuchin monastery, which you leave to your left at the parking lot. Soon after, follow the Katzensteig path, which lends its name to this loop. You cross a residential area and then enter a shady section of forest. At the end of this path, you reach a crossroads where you turn left onto Gatschenweg. This leads you past the Hinterholz biathlon center towards the small village of Gatschen.
In the village, keep left, walk to the next crossroads and turn right there. You will reach Lantschern, where you will pass the local fire station. The route takes you to Schlattham - here you can enjoy open views over the village and follow a pleasant field path back to Irdning.
The way back takes you past the sculpture park and the Irdning elementary school before you finally arrive back at your starting point at the Irdning leisure center.
