The bike path leads to Tauplitz/Klachau, past the foot of the largest natural ski jump Kulm to the cyclist-friendly spa town of Bad Mitterndorf.
Away from road traffic, the path leads flat through the moorland of the "Laasen" to Pichl-Kainisch. After the railroad crossing Kainisch turn right in the direction of the fishery center. After passing through the interesting fish farm, always downhill along the Traun River, a newly built bike path leads to Unterkainisch, which is a district of Bad Aussee. Once here, keep to the left and continue to the train station. From there, continue in the direction of Hallstatt and over the Koppen Pass to Obertraun.
Since May 2011 the continuation of the >R19< goes first over the Koppenpass, then to the Koppental and along the Traun to Obertraun (Upper Austria). From the state border, the >R19< becomes the >R2< Salzkammergut Cycle Path of the state of Upper Austria. A visit to the Dachstein Riesene Ice Cave in Obertraun is also recommended.
The Koppental valley should be reserved for hikers, so we ask for your understanding that the bike path from Bad Aussee to Obertraun is routed a bit over the Koppenpass road.
