HWW-Hiking route: Zöbern - Schäffern - Pinggau
This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.
This HWW hiking route runs along an old pilgrimage route that went from Zöbern via Schäffern to Pinggau. At the Schäffern/Bärenplatz HWW station on this HWW route, you will learn about the lost medieval fortifications on the Schlösslberg near Schäffern.

Arrival by car
- Drive along the highway A2.
- Take exit 76 Krumbach/Zöbern.
- Turn right onto the B55 Wechsel Straße in the direction of Zöbern.
- Follow the B55 for about 5 km until you reach the village of Zöbern.
The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.
- Start your hike in the village of Zöbern.
- The trail leads you through gentle hills and meadows towards the village of Schäffern,
- Hike through the idyllic village of Schäffern to your destination of Pinggau.
We recommend visiting the Maria Hasel pilgrimage church in Pinggau!
