We start the hike at the village square in Stubenberg and then head towards Apfelwirt-Flaggl. On the right-hand side of the road we see a large former department store, we turn right after this house and continue on the path until we reach the crossroads.
After the former Cafe Mühle, we turn left and then follow the path through a forest, past orchards to the elevated reservoir.
The asphalt road continues through the Hödlhof orchards to Haus Vorraber, from where the old mill path leads down through a forest to the rocky Rossbachklamm gorge.
The forest path then climbs again, passes Neuhaus Castle, crosses the agricultural land of the Erlacher farmstead and then leads along the ridge to the Kreilkogel. A narrow path leads over the rock formation around the Kreilkogel and on to the Eckzeiler Kreuz. A final ascent along the hollow municipal path leads to the highest point at 920 m above sea level. From here, the trail runs parallel to the slope to the Jochbauerhöhe, where it meets the Buchkogelhöhenweg.
