Buchsteinhaus
AdmontThe stylish Buchsteinhaus can be reached from Gstatterboden by marching through serpentines and a beech forest. After two and a half hours, you will be at the hut and can comfortably lean back in the sun or choose from the magnificent mountain menu. Or simply: continue towards the Großer Buchstein.
Fresh cuisine and tired hiker's calves go well together. Whether you have just come from Route 641 via the Rauchbodenweg or from St. Gallen, the terrace of the modern Buchsteinhaus is simply delightful, and the excellent cuisine restores all hikers. This hut leaves no mountain wishes unfulfilled, and you will definitely continue your journey invigorated. For example, to the many climbing routes on the south face, which cover almost all levels of difficulty. However, one should never leave without a good dose of alpine glow. Because the view of the Hochtor group is and remains unique, especially when a kitschy sunset mood blankets the Gesäuse.
Ascent
- from Gstatterboden initially on Rauchbodenweg, then on Path No. 641 in about 2.5 hours
- from St. Gallen / Eisenzieher via the same path number in about 4 hours
- Großer Buchstein (2,224 m) ... via "Westschlucht" (normal ascent I) in about 2.5 hours
- via Wengerweg (II) in about 2.25 hours via the south face via ferrata (A+B) about 2 hours
