Kornberg Castle in the Thermen- & Vulkanland experience region is today a popular event and exhibition center along the Castle Road and is directly located on the Vulkanland Route 66.

Local handicrafts, exhibitions & knight’s feasts
Away from the hustle and bustle, Kornberg Castle is situated in Dörfl between Riegersburg and Feldbach, embedded in the landscape. Four towers characterize the two-story structure from the outside, while inside lies a magnificent Renaissance castle courtyard. Already in the 16th and 17th centuries, the once fortified castle was expanded into a residential castle. Visitors can still feel this today in the inviting friendliness of the building. The castle, which has been documented as early as the 13th century and has been owned by the Bardeau family since 1871, presents itself without any barriers.

By the way: The castle owner, Consul Mag. Andreas Graf von Bardeau, offers castle tours, during which he personally guides guests through the private rooms of the castle. Upon request, there is a subsequent reception with a champagne talk.

Thanks to the dedication of the family, Schloss Kornberg has remained vibrant and alive. Behind its centuries-old walls, there is much to discover. Exotic trees, planted over a hundred years ago, grow alongside native plants in the castle garden. During the summer months, the castle courtyard transforms into a stage for carpet art, offering an almost oriental atmosphere through the exhibition by the Rohani company.

Throughout the year, a variety of events bring life to the castle: concerts, exhibitions, and weddings. Particularly in winter, the Renaissance courtyard fills with the scent of mulled wine and roasted apples, while the artisan Christmas exhibition has become one of the most beautiful pre-Christmas events in Styria. In the heated vaults, over 100 artisans from across Austria showcase their works, from floristry and costume jewelry to ceramics. For families, there are also live workshops for children.

Special experiences also include the medieval feasts at the castle: by torchlight and candlelight, you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of medieval dining. For romantic weddings, Schloss Kornberg provides the perfect backdrop to make the big day unforgettable.

Exhibition "The Little World of the Great Castles"
The permanent exhibition "The Small World of Great Castles" can be visited at the Meierhof of Schloss Kornberg (only for groups of 10 or more with prior registration). It features 15 models and 2 historical battles, taking visitors into a captivating miniature world. The castles, built to a scale of 1:75 and 1:100, are incredibly detailed, showcasing the architecture, decor, and landscape with astonishing accuracy. Special lighting effects allow the castles to be viewed by day, night, and dawn, creating a fascinating spectacle.

Castle tours are available every Wednesday to Sunday at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
