Riegersburg

Visible from afar, the more than 850-year-old Riegersburg Castle is enthroned on a steep volcanic rock and is considered the landmark of southeastern Styria. Whether on foot, with the inclined cable car or via the fixed rope routes - "conquering" the Riegersburg leaves deep impressions. The stronghold of the fortress, the high castle Kronegg, is home to three exhibitions (witch, castle and weapons museum). Also worth seeing are the daily flight demonstrations at the bird of prey station.

At the foot of the Riegersburg is the high ropes climbing garden. The highest point of the high ropes course is at a height of 10 meters. It takes some effort to climb up to this height, secured only with a rope, on wobbly ropes and boards. Likewise, the Riegersburg with 10,000 square meters of natural rock offers a very special climbing experience, which starts from here.

In recent years, Riegersburg has developed into a culinary stronghold. A large number of gourmet manufactories have settled around the market town and invite visitors to take part in guided tours and tastings. Whether handmade Zotter chocolate, fine brandies and vinegars from Alois Gölles, cheese from the Fromagerie zu Riegersburg, exquisite Styrian wines from the Bernhart, Eibel and Wippel wineries or sparkling temptations from the Vulkanland sparkling wine factory - no one leaves here hungry or thirsty.

It is obvious that so much pleasure should also be hikable. Starting from the center of the market town of Riegersburg, the Genusswanderweg runs in two routes, an east and a west loop with numerous surprises, nature trails and showplaces. For cooling off on all too hot summer days, the Riegersburg lakeside spa provides.
