The Brucker Schlossberg
Bruck an der Mur
The once mighty Landskron Castle, which had existed since the 13th century at the latest and was rebuilt in the course of the 16th century, was completely destroyed in the devastating city fire of 1792.
Today, the remnants of the wall surround a romantic plateau that offers a magnificent view over the city and its surroundings - from here, you can truly see the most beautiful city panorama. A walk along the paths up here is one of the most popular "city hikes" in the entire Upper Styria.
The literature trail allows for a pleasurable hike from the Minoritenkirche to the Schlossberg and further to the city museum. Once you reach the Schlossberg, you will find the cannon hut and the clock tower. Although it bears a strong resemblance to the clock tower in the state capital Graz, this is not a replica. The clock tower was once a watchtower for the city's fire watch.
Furthermore, the Schlossberg is not only a popular outing destination for the people of Bruck, but in recent years, it has increasingly been used as a location for various events.
Not only during the day is the Schlossberg a beautiful destination for outings, but also at night, the ruins are an attraction, as they have been illuminated by spotlights that change color depending on the temperature.
If you wish to take a break, you can enjoy culinary delights during the opening hours of "Das Schlossberg" while enjoying the view over Bruck.
