The starting point is St. Sebastian, 800 meters above sea level (valley station of the Nordwest 4-seater chairlift - only in operation in winter, in summer 8-seater cable car in Mariazell).
From there we first drive about 1 km on asphalt to the Habertheuer, from where a forest road leads over the Föhrenberg - past the Holzknechthütte to Pfanni's Edelweißhütte (1266 meters). The journey takes between 25 and 50 minutes, depending on your physical condition.
The 1266 meter high local mountain of Mariazell is a forested lookout mountain of the Styrian-Lower Austrian Limestone Alps and offers a magnificent view of the Mariazell region and the Alpine foothills.
The Bürgeralpe has a densely forested hilltop, and on the summit is the "Erzherzog-Johann-Warte", built in 1908 and named after the Styrian sovereign. Next to it you can find the summit cross and the Edelweiss hut. There is an ascent possibility with the cable car from the center of Mariazell.
The Berggasthof Bürgeralpe (Tel.: +43 3882 2508) and the Edelweißhütte (Tel.: +43 3882 4255) cater for your physical well-being.
