Once, the upper course of the Mürz River was crucial for timber transport. Today, a revitalized thematic trail, managed by the Herausforderung Wasser association, the Alpine Club, and the initiative "Miteinander für Neuberg", follows the path of the old rafting facility, leading to the reservoir near Neuberg an der Mürz. The trail is easy to walk and offers an impressive passage through a rock tunnel, equipped with illuminated informational panels, making it a fascinating experience for visitors.

The starting point is Neuberg an der Mürz, near the camping bus parking area, not far from the municipal office and the nature park office. From there, the trail follows the Mürz River to the former rafting facility with the Tunnelkino (a small cinema in the tunnel). You can return along the same route or take the Mürztalradweg R5 (Mürztal cycling path). The trail continues over the Fuhrmannbrücke (Coachman Bridge) to Krampen.

The easy-to-walk trail is a wonderful experience for families and even smaller children.

Start at the Market Municipal Office (Marktgemeindeamt) and cross the Mürz River. Pass by the Pillhoferhalle. At the camping bus parking area, follow the trail to the right along the Mürz River, always following the markers, until you reach the Tunnelkino (Tunnel Cinema). Continue through the tunnel and walk a few more minutes to a small swimming area.

You can either return via the same route or, at the Fuhrmannbrücke (Coachman Bridge), cross the Mürz River and follow the road along the Mürztalradweg R5 back to Neuberg an der Mürz.

The Stauseeweg is recommended as a circular hiking trail! Start from the former wood rafting facility, continue to the Fuhrmannbrücke over the Mürz River, and then return via the R5 cycling path to the starting point.
