Hiking along the water

Our water hiking trails along the rivers, through the ravines and around lakes offer adventure at any time of the year. The Eastern Styria’s best known water hiking trails lead along the Raabklamm and through the Bärenschützklamm.

Babbling brooks, rushing rivers, thundering waterfalls and of course lakes as smooth as glass – wonderful hiking trails are everywhere.

The most exciting but also most strenuous way is through the Bärenschützklamm . Springing from the Sommeralm, the Mixnitzbach plunges down the mountain until the brook merges with the Mur river. The ravine that formed over thousands of years can be climbed over bridges and ladders – always accompanied by the spray of the waterfalls and the rushing of the brook.
A hike through Austria’s longest ravine, the Raabklamm made up of the “wild” Große Raabklamm and the gentle Kleine Raabklamm, is an entirely different experience. Here, hikers have no steep hills to climb and are free to enjoy the diverse flora and fauna, or to cool their feet occasionally in the cold water. If you prefer sedate walks along quiet waters, circling one of our lakes such as the Stubenbergsee, Teichalmsee or Harter Teiche is for you.

Hiking trails on the water, along lakes or brooks, are particularly refreshing on hot summer days.
