Explore the snow covered winter landscape

Snowshoeing and winter hiking

The Eastern Styria has appropriate activities for all guests, also off the slopes. Take a snowshoe hike to the summit under the full moon or relax as you stroll through the unique winter landscape, enjoying the fresh air.

Even the frosty season has plenty to offer for strollers and hikers. Winter hiking is the most comfortable way to enjoy an intense nature experience on well-groomed winter hiking trails without overexerting yourself. The Almenland Nature Park and Joglland-Waldheimat at somewhat higher elevations are particularly inviting for an unforgettable snow experience in the winter months.

From the Fischbacher Alpen in the Joglland-Waldheimat to the Almenland Nature Park, part of the Graz mountains, you will find ideal winter conditions just waiting to be explored. Deeply snow covered forests, powder snow and a gorgeous skiing panorama leave unforgettable impressions of snowshoeing and winter hiking.

NEW: THE EASTERN STYRIA WINTER NEEDLE

Eastern Styria impresses with its small but beautiful ski resorts with affordable skiing, easily accessible pistes, short and stress-free approaches. There is also plenty to experience and relax away from the slopes. Excellent cross-country ski trails, winter and snowshoe hikes, toboggan runs, winter wellness and much more await you.

There is a small gift for those who achieve the Winter Needle, which can be collected from the Almenland Nature Park or Joglland-Waldheimat offices.

Let's go

Winter wonderland

Roam the sweeping region, draw the cold, clear winter air deep into your lungs and let your surroundings free you. There are many possibilities from challenging ski tours to comfortable winter hikes and everything in between.

Winter Hiking

Clear winter air, snow as far as the eye can see and magical views of valleys and alpine pastures. Winter hiking in the Eastern Styria lets you experience the magic of winter without special equipment. The sun, low in the sky, peeks through the branches, creating a perfect postcard moment. Far removed from the large ski resorts and bustling slopes, the landscape is still and untouched, cold – yet it warms the heart.

Snowshoeing

The snow crunches softly underfoot as the crystal-clear air fills your lungs. Snowshoeing becomes a journey of discovery through untouched terrain. How it works: The snowshoes buckle on over your winter boots, allowing you to walk through the Eastern Styria’s winter wonderland.
