Floodplain & shore trail - Long variant / Trail 8

Somewhat longer but all the more beautiful hiking trail. Through forests and along Feistritz and Rittschein and past the golf course. Scenically charming, largely flat.
The tour leads through a beautiful mixed forest into the Rittscheintal to Gillersdorf - past the golf course you reach the Feistritz (a natural border river to Burgenland). This section is particularly charming. In total you walk through 3 districts: Gillersdorf, Dietersdorf and Bad Loipersdorf.

THERMENLANDBUS
The Thermenland bus runs two times a day on weekdays and once a day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays between Vienna and the Loipersdorf spa resort.
Along the Rittschein you come back to Gillersdorf and from here you have the ascent via Hartbergen back to the spa. Past the Hartbergschlössel (private) you can take a break at the Thermenstadlheurigen (open from 16.00; except Sun), or at Martin's Heurigen (from 11:00 except Thu). Immediately afterwards, on the panorama terrace of the VINO.TAKE, you have a beautiful "look back" into the valley where you were shortly before on the way. Then it's a leisurely walk - somewhat off the road - back to the spa resort.
It is worthwhile in the area of the Feistritz - where it is possible - to go all the way to the bank. A natural landscape with this flora and fauna is now rarely seen. Impressive how a river makes its way and with a lot of luck you might see a kingfisher.
