HWW-Hiking route: Dechantskirchen - Hohenau/Kapelle - Flourls Schenke - Stögersbach (circular trail)
This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.
This HWW hiking route runs from the center of Dechantskirchen to Hohenau Chapel to Flourls Schenke via Stögersbach back to Dechantskirchen. Along the HWW hiking route, at the HWW station Hohenau/Kapelle, you will learn that the high-altitude Hohenau was an independent political municipality for decades. You can also learn about the impact the introduction of political municipalities in 1849/50 had on the history of Wechselland.

Directions - By car
- via the Südautobahn (A2) to the Pinggau exit
- at the traffic circle take the 3rd exit
- along the B54 towards Graz/Hartberg
- turn left onto Dechantskirchen
The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.
- start: Park and Ride Dechantskirchen
- turn right down Kroisbachweg to the village square in Dechantskirchen
- turn right towards the Dechantskirchen municipal office
- after the municipal office, turn left onto Karnerweg
- turn right at the crossroads and walk along Bergenweg
- turn left onto Grabenweg past the Zinggl-Bäck cider barturn right onto Hilmweg
- pass the Hohenau chapel
- then turn right again onto Bergenweg
- at the crossroads, you can take a detour to the right to Flourl's Schenke with a wonderful view
- keep right and pass the 2nd farm on the left
- the path leads across fields and through a wood towards Stögersbach
- keep right at the next crossroads past inn Jeitler
- along Reithoferweg in the direction of Dechantskirchen
- turn left onto Bergenweg
- at the crossroads, turn onto Schwammerweg
- pass inn Schwammer and return to the Park and Ride
We recommend a stop at Flourl's Tavern. The inn with the flair of a Buschenschank has a wonderful view of the Pannonian Plain across Eastern Styria all the way to Slovenia!

Park and Ride in Dechantskirchen.
