The Mur cycle path offers around 450 kilometres of pure cycling pleasure. It’s one of the most varied river cycle paths in the Alpine region. Across a total of eight stages, the route leads you past mountains and alpine pastures in the north and water meadows in the south. Two of the sections run through the ERZBERG LEOBEN region.
The fourth stage of the popular river cycle path takes cycling enthusiasts from Judenburg im Zirbenland via Knittelfeld to Leoben. On the way there, diverse activities await, for which it’s well worth taking a break. There is the Red Bull Ring with its numerous attractions, cider taverns, Aqualux Therme Fohnsdorf (thermal spa), a railway museum, and the Wipfelwanderweg treetop trail in Rachau.
Once at the stage destination in Leoben, cyclists can choose from a variety of leisure activities. The stay becomes a Bike&Hike tour if you combine it with a hike up Kalvarienberg or Mugel. Those who prefer to take it easy can treat themselves to relaxing hours at Asia Hotel & Spa Leoben or have a picnic in one of the parks. For lovers of culture and the arts, there is no way around Kunsthalle Leoben.
The fifth stage starts in Leoben in the direction of Graz. Again, picturesque villages like Bruck an der Mur and Frohnleiten or excursion destinations such as Rabenstein Castle and Bärenschützklamm gorge invite you to take well-deserved breaks along the route. The endpoint of this day's stage is the historic centre of Graz, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the landmark clock tower to the red roofs of Graz, there’s a lot to discover there.
R15 Rastlandradweg connects the Enns cycle path with the Mur cycle path and also runs through the ERZBERG LEOBEN region. Alpenbad Mautern, Wilder Berg and the pilgrimage church of Mautern: The Styrian market town in the Liesingtal valley welcomes its visitors with a wide range of leisure activities.
Good to know: In the ERZBERG LEOBEN region, everyone will find a suitable tour – from leisurely cycle paths for families to challenging trails for mountain bikers.
