The starting point of this approx. 40 km round trip through the
ERZBERG LAND we start at the
stadium Trofaiach-Rötz. Here is also the possibility to park the car. (A journey by bus is also possible. The nearest
stop is Trofaiach Hauptstraße/Zentrum).
Through the idyllic Rötzgraben you pass Styria's oldest spruce in the direction of Hiaslegg, before you turn left into an ancient servitude path towards the heights of Rötz and Vordernberg. On the Hohe Rötz, the former trade house Rötzhube stands on the right hand side and after a steep descent you reach the Eisenbundesstraße in the center of Vordernberg, from where you head towards Leoben. After passing the railroad underpass, you turn right onto the R38 cycle path, the Eisenstraßen cycle path, which leads along the former railroad line to Hafning and on to the Trofaiach sports hall.
The route now takes a right turn on the Gößgrabenstraße towards Kurzheim, where you turn left to Gimplach and get a great view of the Reiting massif. Over the Putzenberg and the golf course Trofaiach you reach Schardorf and again left over Gausendorf to Edling. Along the federal road you reach the Trabochersee, which is circled counterclockwise, before turning right over the Hessenberg to St. Peter Fr. From here the route leads again along the former railroad line in the direction of Trofaiach and on a route across the city center. Via Roßmarkt the route passes the cemetery and the former substation Ost, which now serves as an event venue, and back to the stadium.
The entire route runs 7% on the paved main road, 64% on side roads, 25% bike paths and 4% main road with bike lanes. The nature of these roads and paths are divided into 20% gravel, 2% off-road and 78% asphalt.
